Contact Number :+6012-2019901/016-2019901

Introduction
Because building high performance teams at work is a puzzle.
Just how do you get teams get off to a good start? How do you plan, strategize and innovate as a team?
How do you leverage the knowledge and skills of your team members while working with the diversity of personality and communication styles?
How do you encourage people to work together across departments and divisions?
These are just a few of the questions every organization must answer on its road to harnessing the power and the diversity of its people.

During treasure hunt, you'll actively turn teamwork into results -- learning new team techniques for reducing errors, increasing production, inspiring innovation and boosting your bottom line. And you'll do this while solving amazing, mind-boggling codes and puzzles on the various locations in our team building packages.
Our hunts, like your business, are all about puzzle solving. To reach each fascinating, little-known, mystery location in the area of your choice, you'll have puzzles to solve, codes to decipher, and secrets to unlock. Great clue writing, however - where the clues are intricate, sophisticated, and witty, neither too easy nor too hard - is really an art form. You will engage both your minds and your bodies in solving the puzzles of teamwork, including such vital business teambuilding issues as brainstorming, problem-solving, team communication, style differences, and perhaps most of all, cross-team collaboration.
And you'll have a ton of fun in the process.

Leading Your Team in the Right Direction - Orienteering Treasure Hunt

The Treasure Hunt for teambuilding conferences that fosters group effectiveness in a unique way. Based on the Scandinavian (and new Olympic) sport of Orienteering where individuals use a detailed map to find flags on the forest, The Treasure Hunt is driven by a custom-made map of your conference center.
The object is to find the key to the treasure-filled chest. The group soon realizes that the only way to accomplish this goal is to work together. The key, which is hidden somewhere on the property, can only be found by locating clues that are circled on their maps (a tree, a column, a statue, etc.) When assembled these clues will reveal a final riddle.
The large group is divided into heterogeneous sub-groups each of whom has its own set of clues to find. Clues can be "trivial pursuit" and "Jeopardy" style questions. We can also add some questions about the company. Some clues can only be acquired when the group completes a "challenge" – a fun test of the team’s mettle. In turn, each sub-group’s immediate goal is assembling their part of the riddle.
All sub-groups must work together in the final stage to find the key. The excitement builds as the entire group seeks out the key. And since all contributed to the search, all get a share of the treasure, which can be a token or memento of the seminar, possibly a T-shirt emblazoned with the current slogan of the team.
The activity can be made more physical or more cerebral depending on your needs. Typically, Treasure Hunts last several hours. However, some firms prefer a full day that centers around traditional orienteering in a local forest. While the activity is best suited out of doors, we can have alternate rain sites within your hotel or conference center.

What is Orienteering?

Orienteering is a sport in which orienteers use an accurate, detailed map and a compass to find points in the landscape. It can be enjoyed as a walk in the woods or as a competitive sport.
A standard orienteering course consists of a start, a series of control sites that are marked by circles, connected by lines and numbered in the order they are to be visited, and a finish. The control site circles are centered around the feature that is to be found; this feature is also defined by control descriptions (sometimes called clues). On the ground, a control flag marks the location that the orienteer must visit.
To verify a visit, the orienteer uses a punch hanging next to the flag to mark his or her control card. Different punches make different patterns of holes in the paper.
The route between "controls" (refers to the flag or the site) is not specified, and is entirely up to the orienteer; this element of route choice and the ability to navigate through the forest are the essence of orienteering.
Most orienteering events use staggered starts to ensure that each orienteer has a chance to do his or her own navigating, but there are several other popular formats, including relays and events in which the orienteer must find as many controls as possible within a specified time.
Four Stages of Team Development
When a group of people are first formed into a team, their roles and interactions are not established. Some individuals may merely act as observers while they try to determine what is expected from them while others may engage the process immediately. There are many models that describe team developmental progression. They are similar and suggest that the process occurs in four predictable stages. Each stage is characteristically different and builds on the preceding one. The implication is that all teams must develop through this predetermined sequence if they are to be fully functioning teams.

Stage 1: Forming
Stage 2: Storming
Stage 3: Norming
Stage 4: Performing

Stage 1: Forming

The Forming stage of team development is an exploration period. Team members are often cautious and guarded in their interactions not really knowing What to expect from other team members.
  • They explore the boundaries of acceptable behavior.
  • Behaviors expressed in this early stage are generally noncommittal.
Some questions raised during this stage of development are:
  • Do I want to be part of this team?
  • Will I be accepted as a member?
  • Who is the leader?
  • Is the leader competent?

Stage 2: Storming

The Storming stage of development is characterized by competition and strained relationships among team members. There are various degrees of conflict that teams experience but basically the Storming
stage deals with issues of power, leadership, and decision making.
  • Conflict cannot be avoided during this stage
  • It is the most crucial stage the team must work through.
Some questions raised during this stage of development are:
  • How will I seek my autonomy?
  • How much control will I have over others?
  • Who do I support?
  • Who supports me?
  • How much influence do I have?

Stage 3: Norming

The Norming stage of team development is characterized by cohesiveness among team members. After working through the storming stage, team members discover that they in fact do have common interests with each other.
  • They learn to appreciate their differences.
  • They work better together.
  • They problem solve together.
Some questions raised during this stage of development are:
  • What kind of relationships can we develop?
  • Will we be successful as a team?
  • How do we measure up to other teams?
  • What is my relationship to the team leader?

Stage 4: Performing

The Performing stage of team development is the result of working through the first three stages. By this time, team members have learned how to work together as a fully functioning team-
  • They can define tasks.
  • They can work out their relationships successfully-
  • They can manage their conflicts.
  • The can work together to accomplish their mission.
NOTES
Forming
In the first stages of team building, the forming of the team takes place. The team meets and learns about the opportunity and challenges, and then agrees on goals and begins to tackle the tasks. Team members tend to behave quite independently. They may be motivated but are usually relatively uninformed of the issues and objectives of the team. Team members are usually on their best behavior but very focused on themselves. Mature team members begin to model appropriate behavior even at this early phase. Sharing the knowledge of the concept of "Teams - Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing" is extremely helpful to the team.

Supervisors of the team tend to need to be directive during this phase.

The forming stage of any team is important because in this stage the members of the team get to know one another, exchange some personal information, and make new friends. This is also a good opportunity to see how each member of the team works as an individual and how they respond to pressure.

Storming
Every group will then enter the storming stage in which different ideas compete for consideration. The team addresses issues such as what problems they are really supposed to solve, how they will function independently and together and what leadership model they will accept. Team members open up to each other and confront each other's ideas and perspectives. In some cases storming can be resolved quickly. In others, the team never leaves this stage. The maturity of some team members usually determines whether the team will ever move out of this stage. Some team members will focus on minutiae to evade real issues.

The storming stage is necessary to the growth of the team. It can be contentious, unpleasant and even painful to members of the team who are averse to conflict. Tolerance of each team member and their differences needs to be emphasized. Without tolerance and patience the team will fail. This phase can become destructive to the team and will lower motivation if allowed to get out of control.

Supervisors of the team during this phase may be more accessible but tend to still need to be directive in their guidance of decision-making and professional behavior. The groups will therefore resolve their differences and group members will be able to participate with one another more comfortably and they won't feel that they are being judged in any way and will therefore share their own opinions and views...

Norming
At some point, the team may enter the norming stage. Team members adjust their behavior to each other as they develop work habits that make teamwork seem more natural and fluid. Team members often work through this stage by agreeing on rules, values, professional behavior, shared methods, working tools and even taboos. During this phase, team members begin to trust each other. Motivation increases as the team gets more acquainted with the project.

Teams in this phase may lose their creativity if the norming behaviors become too strong and begin to stifle healthy dissent and the team begins to exhibit groupthink.

Supervisors of the team during this phase tend to be participative more than in the earlier stages. The team members can be expected to take more responsibility for making decisions and for their professional behavior.

As team members get to know each other better, their views of each other begin to change. The team feels a sense of achievement for getting so far, however some members can begin to feel threatened by the amount of responsibility they have been given. They would try to resist the pressure and revert to storming again.

Performing
Some teams will reach the performing stage. These high-performing teams are able to function as a unit as they find ways to get the job done smoothly and effectively without inappropriate conflict or the need for external supervision. Team members have become interdependent. By this time they are motivated and knowledgeable. The team members are now competent, autonomous and able to handle the decision-making process without supervision. Dissent is expected and allowed as long as it is channeled through means acceptable to the team.

Supervisors of the team during this phase are almost always participative. The team will make most of the necessary decisions. Even the most high-performing teams will revert to earlier stages in certain circumstances. Many long-standing teams will go through these cycles many times as they react to changing circumstances. For example, a change in leadership may cause the team to revert to storming as the new people challenge the existing norms and dynamics of the team.

THE BASICS
In any package, on arrival for any programs, the participants will be briefed on the entire program followed by ice breaking activities. At the beginning and end of each activities there will be briefing and de-briefing. The list of activities below are not complete and will be added on from time to time
INTRODUCTION
The basic concept utilized is experiential learning or learning through experience. Participants take part in various activities which initiate and enhance skills such as leadership, teamwork, and communication. These activities are facilitated by Instructors who ensure activities are adapted to fit the participants' capabilities to maximize learning. As the experiences are more vivid than normal classroom lectures, participants have a higher retention and transfer of the lessons learnt to working and personal life. This is a key strength of all activities.
TEAM PROBLEMS SOLVING
A wide variety of team dynamics activities are designed to encourage initiative, team work, planning, communication and leadership. Each activity involves varying degrees of both group and personal challenges.
* Orienteering
Participants are divided into smaller groups, each consisting of a maximum of 3 persons. They will then be given a map of the venue ground. The idea is to look for as many markers as possible within a time limit.
Aims: To let participants do planning, teach co-operation among others, time management and self-reliance.
* Ice Breaking
This is usually done when participants first arrive in a variety of short programs.
Aims: Generate group spirit, communication and increase group interaction and sharing of ideas.

CAMPING
It is done as part of any expedition. Participants will be given equipment such as "parang", tent sheet (tarpauline), karrimat, waterbottle, cooking pot, rucksack to name a few. They have to share the duties of making the shelter, cooking, collecting firewood and guard duty.
Selecting a good campsite is an essential part of the exercise here. Participants are not allowed to erect any campsite in a farm, near a river, on a hill slope and of course on a tree. A few aspects that should be looked into are such matters as the area, availability of water, threat from the strong wind and lightning, and fallen dead branches.
Aims:
  • to provide an opportunity to become more self-reliant, efficient and proficient in wilderness living.
  • to stimulate group's interaction by sharing tasks
  • to present situations which test sparticipants initiative, humour, sense of responsibilty and willingness to perform routine work even when tired
  • to instill attitude that one can live with enjoyment and comfort in a natural environment without harming it.

There are 3 types of Solo, namely,
Mini Solo or Time Out
Short or Long Solo

After Solo, we will give a chance to the participants to talk about:
  • what they think and feel about the experience,
  • what is the purpose,
  • are there any benefit,
  • general feedback.
ROPE CONFIDENCE COURSE

TEAM BUILDING GAMES
Divided into teams participants will compete to accomplish the game within a given time
ROCK CLIMBING and ABSEILING (RAPELLING)
There are mainly two areas of operations for this activity. The artificial rock wall which is perfect for beginners.
The purpose of the rock wall is to provide a safe, educational and fun venue for climbing and abseiling (rappelling).Participants have to climb the rock wall safely using ropes, harnesses, belay device (ATC), Karabiners for protection. Descending (abseiling) from the top of the wall needs courage and a sense of adventure. Individuals have to control their own rate of descent using the device (figure of eight) and suspended by a safety line controlled by the instructor.
Aims:
  • increase self-confidence
  • generate trust
  • decision making involving risk and courage
  • break down previously held physical and mental limitations
  • to help group understand the importance of mutual support to an individual in overcoming problems and reaching goals.
Abseiling

For abseiling, we are using the rock wall and the high ropes circuit. On the rock wall, usually an exercise called Self-Programmed Abseil is often used with management courses and presented as a project to be managed with little help from Instructors except for technical and safety advice.
Aims:
  • careful interpretation of written instruction to successfully complete a task
  • management of multi-faceted project involving perceived risk
  • co-operation / team building
  • planning
  • trust
  • confidence in oneself and others
  • determination to succeed
  • communication skills
  • leadership
  • and of course... to have fun
WHITE WATER RAFTING AND WHITE WATER TUBE RAFTING
Rafting is usually used in one of the following ways:
• as part of the final expedition on Challenge Course
• as part of a one day jungle walk / one day raft combination on shorter course
• as a separate one day activity itself
• as a part of a program activity
Instead of a rubber boat, we used inner tube or inner and bamboo lashed together to form a raft that will be used on t river, lagoon or lake.. This practice is very beneficial for the participants as they will work together to build a strong and practicable raft for their own group. Everyone will be involved in this process which at the same time, will enhance the level of teamwork, brainstorming, decision making and leadership, to name a few.
Rafting is a good chance indeed for individuals to practice skills in sometimes stressful situations. It will also activate the initiatives of the group in deciding which way to go while tackling a rapids.

Raft Building Exercise
This exercise is done on the rive or lake site. Group will be given certain amount of time to discuss, plan and finally build their raft. The objective is to build a raft by using the inner tubes and bamboo or blue plastic barrels and wooden spars, that can accommodate all the members in the group and to cross the river safely.
Aims:
  • Management of multi-faceted project
  • planning
  • presentation skills
  • budgeting
  • creativity
  • Management of human resources, equipment, technical skills allocation, finances and time
JUNGLE TREKKING
Short expedition starting from base camp is usually done as a half day, full day or over two days and overnight stay in the jungle, whereas, the Long Expedition is done in 4 days 3 nights including a day of community service in one of thekampung (rural village). At the end of the walking day, the participants use their parang to cut wood from the jungle. They build a frame, tie it together with jungle veins, and place a tarpaulin over it. They sleep communally in their "longhouse" tents and cook over traditional campfires.
JUNGLE SURVIVAL

Approach to learning

The participants will use a self-assessment exercise to better understand how they personally feel about working in a team, to recognize the issues affecting how people work together and how to handle conflict resolution in their work teams. Using their own experience, they create a tool and use it to assess the level of teamwork in their own areas. Through a series of group exercises, case studies, and role plays, they will learn a variety of techniques for making their teams more effective.

The Nature of Experiential Learning

Experiential learning is both exciting and challenging. It includes a range of different processes such as individual or team problem solving initiatives, physical challenges, games, simulation exercises, structured processes, sharing sessions, guided visualisations, and structured interactions. In all these events, students are actively engaged in the learning process and are able to generate meaningful, relevant insights from their experience.

The Nature of Experiential Learning has been defined as having four main characteristics:

The learner is aware of the processes which are taking place, and which are enabling learning to occur; the learner is involved in a reflective experience that enables the person to relate current learning to past, resent and future; the experience and content is personally significant: what is being learned and how it is being learned hold a special importance for that person; there is an involvement of the whole self - body, thoughts, feelings and actions, not just of the mind. In other words, the learner is fully engaged as a whole person.

Leadership Training Courses

Mastering Leadership requires continuous attention to a number of complex issues. True leadership is strategic, not tactical; that is to say that leadership addresses long-term issues, not short-term crises. Effective leaders also find that all members of a team must be ready to play critical leadership roles, reinforcing the idea that leaders teach others to be leaders, not followers. And, successful leaders know that the needs of the group guide the techniques and strategies that leaders use to guide and facilitate the activities of the group.

Notes on Team Building and Leadership Training

(James Neill, 2005, Wilderdom) A team is a group of people who come together temporarily to achieve a purpose. There is no magic formula for "building a team". Teams are organic - they grow and change - so make use of the opportunities that change offers.

Team Building (or ‘teambuilding') refers to the process of establishing and developing a greater sense of collaboration and trust between team members.

Team Building Activities are stimulating problem-solving tasks designed to help group members develop their communication skills and capacity to work effectively together.

Team Building Exercises can be adapted for virtually any setting, young or old, large or small, and across cultures. Different team building activities facilitated in different ways with different groups can and will lead to a wide variety of different experiences and different outcomes. Even the simplest game can become a significant experience for participants; an important part of team building exercises is participants' reflection and discussion about the activity, how they approached the situation, and possible points of learning.

Outdoor expeditions are a fantastic way to give depth and understanding to the school-based learning experience. Seeing is understanding! Participants find themselves in new environments, out of their comfort zone, opening their minds to new ways of looking at life, leading to important advances in physical, personal and social education.

We does this in a fun and exciting way, using a method that combines learning and experience, otherwise known as experiential learning. Team-building, respect, integrity and self-development are all at the core of our training.

The trips are designed so that enjoyment is maximised. Accommodation is always good, food always plentiful and there is always a member of staff on hand to listen and help out if needed. Without ever realising it, participants are being educated and asked to analyse their responses and behaviours. Participants are included in their own analysis and it is this inclusive and honest approach that brings out the best in participants, maximising potential and bringing out mature responses to challenging situations.

Motivational team-building events and games, learning about new cultures, facing exciting physical and mental challenges, honesty and integrity, forging new friendships and discovering a world of opportunities.
